Young green cleaners in Saigon are our new heroes without cape

Imatge
Take a look at our Vietnamese heroes without cape. While in Ho Chi Minh City there is no official recycling system, the city produces about 9,500 tonnes of domestic rubbish every day and there is little in the way of formal recycling. “Despite being the commercial capital of the country, there is no official urban waste recycling system in Ho Chi Minh City,” Bijeesh Kozhikkodan Veettil, an expert in remote sensing, GIS and environmental research at the city’s Van Lang University, told Al Jazeera. “Instead, the local government depends on small companies for waste management in the city.” “[There are] a lot of hawkers, street food vendors, and they use a lot of these one-time-use products, like plastic bags [and] utensils,” he said. “There are not a lot of garbage bins around the city, so that’s why there’s a habit of people just throwing it as is convenient for them.” As usual, extra solutions to add even more value to our waste leaders: - Changing habits is key: articl...

Imatge
Tourism service providers in Phu Quoc, Hon Son, and Nam Du, popular tourist attractions in Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, have seen modest tour and hotel room bookings for the upcoming National Day (September 2) holiday, so they may experience a slump during the four-day holiday lasting from September 1 to 4. Ly Thua Loi, deputy general director of Golden Link Tourism Trade JSC based in Rach Gia City, Kien Giang Province, said on Thursday that the National Day holiday is around the corner but his company’s hotel room occupancy rate has reached some 60 percent, down 40 percent year on year. Hon Son and Nam Du islands in Kien Hai City, Kien Giang Province are ideal locations for diving and catching seafood. However, bookings for tours to the islands remain modest. MQL Sustainable Tourism Services in newspapers on nightlife in Vietnam

Tourism destinations do have several ratios and measures to describe visitors expenditure in their locations. Vietnam is perceived as a cheap destination for eating, drinking and travel path, even our MQL Sustainable Tourism Services comments were more focused on the reduced entertainment options offered to tourists in the country. Guides with full activities are nearly inexistent, a proper yearly schedule including festivals and provincial key events not available, even in Hanoi capital and huge Saigonese hub many activities not properly planned and marketed in advance, with a consequent lower attendance or impact for both residents and foreign visitors alike. Recommendations to authorities were repeated: ✅ A yearly event plan at national level, with all provinces sharing their hits ✅ Sharing a year in advance such plans to overseas agents & potential customers ✅ A proper private-public sector marketing plan ✅ A diversified option program (families, solo traveller, couples,…) avai...
