Vietnam and Mekong's delta erosion a large issue

Vietnam keeps fighting with the mother nature (and human acts) on Mekong's delta erosion for many years, results are not really positive at all.

A total of 751 eroded areas with a total length of 976 km, over 20,000 households in several provinces need to be relocated to safe areas.

Cost-wise we talk on an embankment project costing US$11 million in Can Tho, US$17 million in Dong Thap and US$ 325,000 in Tien Giang (latest with a petition of US$ 28,7 million on prevention).

Damage in infrastructure facilities such as power networks, national heritage sites and schools near the erosion facing danger, the citizens of Mekong delta had been suffering similar consequences for decades.

Solutions are complex, but legal/illegal sand extraction to cover construction needs, low water sedimentation from Mekong river due to Chinese/Laotian dams, climate change among several others bring to the delta constant damage.
