Overtourism is real in Vietnam and repeating year on year

 Lunar New Year days are the proving the most crowded destinations if the year in Vietnam.


Looking at the pics on link below, offers you an idea of how over-populated beaches and attractions are with thousands of local Vietnamese among few international arrivals.

Such destination use has few inconvenient truths for all:

-> Not enjoying beaches or locations due to huge number of visitors at the same time
-> Overpriced hotel room rates and local services
-> Limited or not available services in most of destinations
-> Over visits producing large amount of waste and litter affecting all arrivals

Available solutions from tourism experts:

* Carrying capacity set up and control (measure maximum number of persons a destination can absorb at one time). Not applied at any Vietnamese location yet.
* Attraction diversification at each destination (avoid crowds and images as below link). Not applied in Vietnam yet.
* Proper planification by private & public sector mutual interaction & benefit (does not currently exist in Vietnam).
* Involve regenerative tourism practices for all destinations. Not current topic considered neither by private & public sectors yet.

Without implementing proven solutions, there are certain periods of the year many decided not to travel within Vietnam ( Tet, April-May and September periods), disconfort from international travellers during the periods is reported yearly without any action taken from authorities.

We tourism experts aiming to add value to all Vietnamese destinations with better quality tourism, better local communities involvement into tourism, regenerative practices aiming to leave the destination in better shape than before visitor arrival date.

Better sustainable procedures for Vietnam tourism businesses

The Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) members pledge to eliminate single use plastics and integrate plastic waste reduction policies by 2030. Tourism is a significant contributor to implement sustainability and the commitment to achieve a plastic-free sector is on the table. One of the most reported considerations by visitors to Vietnam is the waste and plastic miss use in several locations. Tourism figures in Southeast Asia towards end of 2024

Southeast Asian countries pushing tourism figures towards end of 2024, achieving and surpasing targets are key for most of them. ✅ Thailand received 29.08 million foreign tourists by October (by arrivals order of Chinese, Malaysians, Indians, South Koreans and Russians). Target of 36 million for the year. ✅ Vietnam received over 14 million foreign tourists by October and positioning it to reach its target of 18 million end of 2024 (South Korean and Chinese topping the list). ✅ Singapore received 13.9 million visitors, up 23% from last year with Indians on third position with over a million arrivals. ✅ The Philippines received 4.88 million tourists, but well short of its 7.7 million target. ✅ Indonesia had received 10.37 million visitors until September and remained on track to achieving its 14-million target. ✅ Malaysia had only reached around 70% of its target with 18.39 million foreign tourists by September. ✅ Cambodia recorded a 22% year-on-year increase with 4.8 million visitors in...
